• We are delighted to confirm our status as a GOLD provider to Dorset County for Adult Social Care provision.

  • Terri I just want to thank your for all the work you do. As I'm fully aware that you have a large work load . But you still find time to help staff with work & personal issues. It's thanks to you & Sinead that I feel I can do my best work for clients in the knowledge that just as I support clients I know that when I've needed it I've been supported by you. Thanks for being there . Your a great mentor. (Staff member)

Depression: ‘Mindfulness-based therapy shows promise’

A mindfulness-based therapy could offer a “new choice for millions of people” with recurrent depression, a Lancet report suggests.

Today, UKSLS are running the second session of Positive Behavioural Approach training. This training is given by Mr Tony Osgood, a lecturer from the Tizard Centre in Kent.

The staff that completed this training last year are now applying what they have learnt, about the person centred approach, everyday and it is having a very positive affect on our clients and their staff teams.

Our staff have told us that this training is fantastic and they are looking forward to the final review session to discuss how this is used in their practice.

The admin team will also attend a session on this at the end of the month, which will benefit the communication between the office and the teams in the community.

Please see link below to find out more about the Tizard Centre and their great work!

On the 22nd August 2015, four members of staff from UKSLS will be taking part in tough mudder run… A gruelling obstacle course on top of a 12 mile run!

“Tough Mudder is a team-oriented 10-12 mile (18-20 km) obstacle course designed to test physical strength and mental grit. Tough Mudder puts camaraderie over finisher rankings and is not a timed race but a team challenge that allows participants to experience exhilarating, yet safe, world-class obstacles they won’t find anywhere else.”

They are raising money for the charity, who offer support to people with mental health problems.

Thanks and well done in advance guys!

As of 1 April 2015, all social care support workers will be expected to attain a Care Certificate within their first 12 weeks of employment.

The Care Certificate sets out the basic skills, knowledge and behaviours that are required to give safe, effective and compassionate care.

There are over 1.3 million healthcare assistants and social care support workers working in England. They play a vital role providing people with some of the most personal and fundamental support.

UKSLS will be issuing these Care Certificate work books as part of staff induction training to further our employees understanding of providing the highest quality of care and support.
